Purple pinkies help end polio

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Caribou, Fort Fairfield, Limestone and Washburn Rotary Clubs and UMPI present the 5th annual World Polio Day Purple Pinkie Project Monday, Oct. 24, 2016.

For a $1 donation, anyone can have their pinkie painted purple, which reflects the purple dye used to mark children’s pinkies after they’ve been vaccinated for polio.

Pinkie stations will include:

UMPI: Center for Innovative Learning, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Northern Maine Community College, Akeley Student Center, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Aroostook Medical Center, A.R. Gould Hospital cafeteria, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
