Carpenter for Senate

To the editor:
With the November elections quickly approaching most people have been discouraged by the state of our national politics.

Luckily the people of northern Maine have a number of qualified candidates for both the Maine House and Senate. One of these candidates is Mike Carpenter, who is running for State Senate.
Mr. Carpenter is one of the most qualified candidates running for office in the State of Maine. He has previously served in the Maine House of Representative and the Maine Senate. While in the Senate he served on the agriculture, judiciary, and transportation committees and later served as assistant majority leader.
In the 1990s Mr. Carpenter served as Maine Attorney General under Governor McKernan, where he worked with both parties to conduct the business of government. Along with an extensive record of public service, Mr. Carpenter has run a law practice in Houlton, and a successful small business, Carriages of Acadia on Mount Desert Island.
With vast amounts of experience, Mr. Carpenter has a strong grasp on the issues facing northern Maine. He understands that government cannot be the answer to every problem, but by partnering with businesses, educational institutions, and communities it can produce effective change.
In terms of the economy Mr. Carpenter will work to ensure that all our current businesses receive as much support as possible, while looking for opportunities for growth. He will also work to provide job training resources to our labor force and support our educational systems, both on the collegiate and high school level.
Mr. Carpenter will take a balanced, sensible approach to government, working to build coalitions across party lines to help the people of northern Maine. He understands challenges faced by our area, and will not shy away from talking about the important issues, even while others running for office in this election cycle refuse to do so.
Mike Carpenter will serve the people of northern Maine well, and I would urge voters to send him to Augusta to work for all of us this November.
