Hodgdon Middle/High School hosts parent information night

HODGDON, Maine — Hodgdon Middle/High School sponsored a Parent Information Night to introduce parents and students to the school’s Dual Enrollment Program.

The event marks the second year that the school, in conjunction with the University of Maine at Presque Isle, has been able to offer this program.

According to Principal Mary Harbison, this year, four classes are being offered at Hodgdon for dual enrollment.

“Students taking AP literature and composition, AP chemistry, AP U.S. history, and anatomy and physiology are able to earn high school credit as well as college credit by taking any of these courses,” she explained. “These college credits, as long as a student receives a minimum grade of 85, are transferable to any college within the University of Maine system. Many other colleges in Maine will also accept these credits as transfer credits.”

These courses are taught by Hodgdon Middle/High School teachers who have been vetted by the University system to teach these classes at the college level, she added.

Hodgdon Middle/High School also offers other avenues for students to earn college credits through the Aspirations Program and Early College for ME. Anyone interested in more information may contact the guidance office at 532-3663.
