GAGNE, Joan M., Presque Isle, October 2016. At Joan’s request there will be no formal funeral proceedings or viewing hours. Arrangements are under the care of the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.

PRESQUE ISLE – Joan M. Gagne was reunited with her husband, Jean Paul, in the Sunday evening twilight.
Born in Connor Plantation, Joan grew up in a loving, close-knit family with six siblings. Her parents, Edward and Dora Belanger, moved the family to Biddeford where Joan attended school and met her husband, Jean Paul Gagne.
Together, Joan and Jean traveled throughout the Midwest and New England while their family grew. They took every opportunity to return to Biddeford to visit family. Her nieces say they were always excited to hear that playful aunt Joanne and uncle Jean would be visiting. Joan was a bit a prankster. She loved to “borrow” items from her sister Hazel’s home, a tradition that is carried on by their daughters.
Joan was a good sport, sometimes joining Jean in his wild exploits but mostly there to pick up the pieces. They spent many happy summers camping, fishing and enjoying their camp at Squa Pan.
Joan spent many years as the bookkeeper for Presque Isle High School. She was also a volunteer with the A.R. Gould Women’s Auxiliary and served on the TAMC board of directors.
Joan became “Memere” with the birth of her grandsons Matt and Brad. It is said she was the most loving, overprotective grandmother ever.
Joan is survived by her three children and their spouses, Daniel and Wanda Gagne of Old Orchard Beach, David and Melissa Gagne of Fort Fairfield, and Jeanine and Donald Willette of Chapman; cherished grandchildren, Matthew Gagne and Bradley Willette, Joseph Koval, Joshua Cressey, David Coates and Krystal Coates; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Nelson Belanger, and Robert Belanger; sister, Jeanette Turmelle; and many treasured nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Jean Paul; brother, Clarence Belanger; and sisters, Bernice Marsh and Hazel Allard.
At Joan’s request there will be no formal funeral proceedings or viewing hours. The family hopes that you will remember Joan as thoughtful, generous, and genuine; a true lady. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com.
