Storm has left the building!

‘Mews and Yips’ from the Central Aroostook Humane Society
By Gloria J. Towle
Storm is the poor boy who was abandoned in Frenchville back a few months ago. He was a 10-year-old boxer/pit mix that came to the shelter after having been abandoned in a different town by people he trusted and loved unconditionally!
You may wonder how any human can be so completely heartless. Unfortunately, there are many cases all too often that make you question “what happens in their life that could make anyone do such a thing.”
The lucky ones get a second chance and that’s what happened to Storm. He arrived at the Central Aroostook Humane Society and everyone instantly fell in love with this boy and his amazing personality! He had his own way in which he would talk to you. He was featured on television, Facebook and in the papers in hope that someone would see him. He would spend his days curled up in Betsy’s (our manager) office and never missed an opportunity to get some attention whenever someone walked by.
We are so happy to say that he is now in a home where he will be loved daily and be able to live out his senior years happily ever after.
His new owners say that he is a “cuddle monster” and they are so lucky to have him. He also has three other family dogs to run and play with – Cassie, Beau and Michelle. We hear that there is now very limited “couch space” at Storm’s new home!
We are so thankful for the shelter staff and volunteers that give their love and care unconditionally to every animal that come through the shelter doors. We are also very grateful for the wonderful families that welcome these amazing pets into their life.
Something
new this month
Pat’s Pizza is offering a “Walk a Dog Wednesday”! Everyone that comes in each Wednesday in October will get a $5 gift card; so it is a win-win for all involved. You get exercise, our dogs are super happy to get out in the fresh air and you also can treat yourself to something delicious at pizza!
We are still in need of your gently used shoes … our “Shoes for Shelter” fundraiser goes another month, but we are trying hard to get the word out about this wonderful event. We would love to have the area schools, businesses and every individual clean out their shoe closet and give us a call. We would gladly do a pick up (for 25 pair or more) or you can drop them off at the shelter. Please spread the word and consider helping!
If you are looking for a new friend that will love you unconditionally, stop by the Central Aroostook Humane Society at 26 Cross Street, Presque Isle. Our hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., closing for lunch from 12-12:30.
You can check us out on Facebook and petfinders.com. Please be responsible, spay or neuter your pets!
