Boy Scout Troop 205, which includes youth from Island Falls, Crystal, Patten and Sherman, will hold a hunters breakfast at the Rockabema Snow Sled Club in Patten on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 4 to 10 a.m. The menu includes eggs, bacon, beans, toast and biscuits. Donations for the meal go to the Scout troop.

The Whittier Congregational Church in Island Falls will hold its Fall Bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. This event features food and a rummage sale.

RSU 50/Southern Aroostook Community School will hold a Share the Warmth event on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations of good, clean clothing for both children and adults are requested for the free event.

Sort your clothing by type and take it to SACS during regular school hours until Friday, Oct 28. All clothing is free to anyone at the event. It is requested that only clothing is donated, no toys or household items please. Clothing may be dropped off at Katahdin Public Library, Island Falls, during library days – Monday, Tuesday or Thursday – until Thursday the 28th.

As the school year progresses, many classes are fundraising for their needs. The fifth grade traditionally solicits support for their Boston trip throughout the school year. The Fall Fest at school on Oct. 28 will serve as a fundraiser for them as well as other sales and events through the coming year.

People enjoy the spring car washes they hold. Support a fifth-grader with purchases or donations. Grades 9 and 10 are planning a Washington D.C. trip and fundraisers are being held through the year.

The Katahdin Public Library changes to its fall/winter hours beginning Monday, Oct. 31.

Hours will be Monday, ; Tuesday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; and Thursday, 9 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. The facility is closed on all Monday holidays, Thanksgiving Day and winter break from December 23 to January 02, 2017. We have discarded a number of hardcover books and feature a table of giveaways. Also available are many like new duplicate titles at $1.00 each.

The Island Falls Christmas Craft Fair will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Municipal Building.

This fair has run continuously since the early 1980s and features all homemade and handmade craft items with no resale. Many of the crafters have been part of the Fair since the beginning.

A luncheon benefitting the playground will begin at 11.
