Everett “Jim” L. Cole

     CARIBOU – Everett “Jim” L. Cole, 78, passed away peacefully October 18, 2016, at Caribou, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lincoln August 23, 1938, the son of the late Donald and Antoinette (Bates) Cole.

     Everett was a 1957 graduate of Cony High School and then joined the U.S. Air Force to “see the world”. He was stationed at Loring Air Force Base when he met the love of his life, Marjorie Johnson, who “became his world”, and he was honorably discharged in July 1963.

     Mr. Cole had a long distinguished career with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring as Caribou Postmaster in 1994.

     He was a graduate of Ricker College with a degree in business management, where he maintained a high GPA while raising his five children.

     He was a member and Past Master of Caribou Lodge #170 A.F.@A.M., a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Henry B. Pratt Post 15 American Legion. Mr. Cole was also a longtime active member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church.

     He loved spending time with his family and friends, fishing, camping and various outdoor activities.

     He is survived by his wife and best friend, Marjorie; his beloved children, Timothy Cole and wife, Lezlie, Lisa Cole Chase, Denise Cole Laforge, Donald Cole, and Kimberly Cole Mayne and her partner, John A. Bourgoine; his cherished grandchildren, Bryan Cole and wife, Paige, Danielle Chase, Dylan Laforge and Haley Mayne; his precious great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Lundyn Cole; his sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Carl Washburn; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice and Bud Rice; brother-in-law, Randall Johnson; many nieces, nephews and many other children who held a special place in his heart and many family friends he held so dear.

     Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou 6-8 p.m., Friday, where evening Masonic memorial services were held by the officers and members of Caribou Lodge #170. Funeral services were held 2 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016, from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Wilcox, officiating.      His family knows that Heaven has gained another angel and he’s already gathering people together for a “fun and friendly” game of cribbage.
