STACYVILLE, Maine — Katahdin sophomore Erin Lake booted in two goals to help spark the No. 5 Cougars (7-5-3) past No. 12 Washburn 3-0 in a Class D north girls soccer prelim Thursday afternoon.
Senior Bailey Moody-Kay scored the other goal for the Cougars, while senior Erin Robinson tallied an assist.
Sophomore Natalie Rickards had six saves on seven shots for Katahdin. Maggie Canstonguay collected 13 saves on 25 shots for 5-9-1 Washburn.
With the victory, Katahdin advanced to the quarterfinals, where the team will play No. 4 Central Aroostook, 4 p.m. Wednesday in Mars Hill. The two squads did not face each other during the regular season.
