HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton football team notched a 36-32 victory over Stearns Friday evening, thanks to a balanced offensive attack that saw the Shires score three rushing and two passing touchdowns.
Houlton amassed 318 total yards of offense, with Seth Holston leading the way with 113 rushing yards on 11 carries (10.3 yards per carry) and two scores. Austin Brown chipped in 64 yards on 12 carries (5.3 average) with one touchdown and a two-point conversion. Brown also hauled in three receptions for 36 yards and a score.
Quarterback Jared Fox completed eight of 11 passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions. Archie Peterson had two receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown, while Jacob Fox caught two passes for 36 yards.
Stearns compiled more yardage (575 total yards) and also had five touchdowns, but had two costly interceptions.
Houlton (3-5) finishes its season Friday at Orono. The team is currently sixth in the Class D North Crabtree standings.
