Adam Ezra Group slates benefit show
Proceeds will benefit Wieden Auditorium
PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Boston folk-rock band Adam Ezra Group will take the stage at the University of Maine at Presque Isle for a special fund-raising concert on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 7 p.m. at Wieden Auditorium.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for those under 18, seniors and students with an UMPI ID. Proceeds will benefit future auditorium renovations. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.
Known for its songwriting and sound that cuts across musical genres, Adam Ezra Group played upwards of 200 shows in 2015 and recently received a Song of the Year award, along with producers Shep Goodman and Aaron Accetta, at the New England Music Awards for the song “Let Your Hair Down.”
The band includes singer, songwriter and guitarist Adam Ezra, Alex Martin on drums, Corinna Smith on fiddle, Francis Hickey on bass and Josh Gold on keys. While on tour, the band often devotes time to local charity and finds ways to connect with fans to share their belief in the power of community and the human spirit.
Concert-goers will enjoy a special treat during the show: a collaborative music piece with several young County musicians. In the afternoon before the band’s performance, students will take part in a workshop with the band to create their own arrangement of an Adam Ezra Group song. The students then will play the arrangement with the band during the evening concert.
Tickets are available at UMPI’s Campus Store, KMH Music in Presque Isle and Caribou One-Stop, as well as at the door the night of the concert starting at 6:30 p.m.
The band is always busy with collaborations and projects, including a songwriting partnership with John Oates and the theme song “Grow Your Own Way” for Midwest insurance giant Country Financial’s 2014/15 marketing campaign. Ezra’s debut efforts in movie scoring have led to an appearance at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival and the release of Adam Ezra Group’s new album, aptly titled “Songs for a Movie.”
The group’s music has been featured on TV and film, and they have toured with many well-known musicians and groups.
