A benefit dinner and silent auction will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5 for Gil and Amanda Nkamwesiga and their baby Andrew, who was born Aug. 1 and had a heart transplant on Oct. 10 in Boston.

Andrew is doing well, but will be at the hospital for quite awhile longer.
The dinner/auction will run from 4:30-7 p.m. at Central Aroostook High School and will consist of baked beans, pulled pork, potato salad, rolls, drinks and cookies. The theme for the event is Superhero, which Andrew has been since his birth. The Lord has certainly blessed him!
If you would like to donate items for the silent auction, please contact Heidi Garrison at 227-8261 or Charlotte Shaw at 227-1758.

CAHS pep band looking for members

The Central Aroostook High School Pep Band is in need of members. Band director Adam Metzler would love to have community members and alumni from the school volunteer some of their time at home basketball games to help play music. Instruments are available for those who no longer have access to one.
Those who would like to participate should contact Metzler by calling 425-2811 or by emailing him directly at ametzler@sad42.us.

Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Oct. 25 at the Aroostook Health Center and the guest speaker was Presque Isle Rotarian Craig Green. He has been an insurance agent for 20 years and spoke about the changes in the industry and current options on Medicare plans. There are now over 20 plans that vary in cost from $15-$70 a month. Each plan covers different prescriptions and needs to be studied carefully to see the best options for the individual.

Library auction

The Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library is beginning to gather items for the annual Bidding For Good on-line auction to be held early next year. This is typically the library’s largest fundraiser and allows it to add to its collection.
Those with items to donate to the auction can contact the library at 429-9625. Thank you to all who help with this fundraiser.
