To the editor:
It is time that everyone should know what Microsoft has already done to unsuspecting people’s computers with their unauthorized Windows 10 upgrade which uninstalled the previous Windows operating system, disabled the security, ruined the tower, and disconnected the printer, leaving a mess which was costing a lot of time and money to straighten out everything.
Microsoft flagrantly violates the customer’s rights and costs him hundreds and thousands of dollars in the process while refusing to admit to and even acknowledge such wrongdoing as well as pay the claim.
My problems with the unauthorized Windows 10 upgrade began last September as I shut down the computer for the day. The upgrade was already in progress and I couldn’t exit out of it as they had set it up so that I couldn’t stop it. I spent the next two weeks, talking to the overseas Technical Support Center for three to four hours and getting nowhere because their foreign accents made it difficult to talk back and forth and because I talked to a different person each day. All I got was the runaround when I asked them repeatedly to put me back to the previous Windows operating system as well as reimburse me for the amount of money spent on repairing the computer.
They lied to me by telling me that it couldn’t be done and if I wanted it done, I’d have to pay them $81 for a disk to re-install it. Even their number, 1-800-642-7676, was a lie and a hoax intended to deceive anyone whose computer was hacked into and upgraded by force and without consent.
These were computer-savvy hackers pretending to be technical support specialists and operating out of the Philippines instead of out the Microsoft headquarters in the United States. They told me that I couldn’t get back to the previous Windows operating system, that my computer and printer were obsolete, and that my tower was corrupt, in addition to the other lies they told after causing damage to my computer. Then they had the nerve to scold me and blame me for not saying ‘no’ and for not stopping the upgrade as well as turning to outside help. They hung up on me twice when I asked to speak to their supervisor.
Windows 10 operating system is incompatible with my computer, my printer, and my security; its default internet browser Edge will not accept Norton 360 Security and add-ons like printers. I lost my desktop publishing application and all of my photographs. I can’t even use CDs and DVDs because Microsoft invaded and hijacked my computer, fraudulently installing Windows 10.
