Police are investigating what led to a dispute in downtown Presque Isle after a 17-year-old male with a gun was arrested on domestic violence charges Monday.
Police received a complaint Monday evening about a dispute between a 16-year-old female and a 17-year-old male who live together in the area around State Street, said Presque Isle Police Chief Matt Irwin.
The responding officers found that the male had a gun, and learned that he had allegedly choked the female and threatened her with the gun, according to Irwin. The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with domestic violence-terrorizing and domestic violence-assault.
The individuals are not being identified because they are juveniles. It is not clear if they resided together on their own or with parents or adults. Irwin said that the investigation is ongoing and that there may be additional charges.
“They were, for all intents and purposes, on their own,” Irwin said. “We are still working through it but it appears a parent is on the lease but doesn’t really seem to be living there much.”
