ASHLAND, Maine — On the road against one of the top teams in Class D north proved to be too much for the Southern Aroostook girls soccer team to overcome in last Wednesday’s quarterfinal as No. 8 Southern Aroostook was shut out by No. 1 Ashland, 8-0
MacKenzie Carter and Shelby Stolze netted two goals apiece to lead the Hornets. Carter also had three assists while Kassandra Nelson, Morgan Doughty, Jamie Poulin and Willow Hall each scored for Ashland (15-0). Hornet goalie Megan Cote did not face a shot.
Sydney Brewer made 19 saves on 36 shots for Southern Aroostook. The Warriors end their season with an 8-5-3 record.
