HOULTON — More than 25 educators and 10 business leaders in southern Aroostook joined officials with the Aroostook Partnership Oct. 19 for the third teacher/business social sponsored by the economic development organization.
Aroostook Partnership President and CEO Bob Dorsey said the idea for the socials came from the “Education to Industry” working group as they look for ways to increase County career awareness.
“This effort is a continuation of a broader campaign to increase County business and employment awareness to ultimately increase retention efforts to secure our future workforce,” explained Dorsey.
“The informal gathering at the Lounge Downunder in Houlton Wednesday, Oct. 19 brought together teachers and administrators from SAD 29, SAD 70, RSU 50 and Region 2 to mingle with business officials from the insurance industry, manufacturing, media, banking and others.
A fourth teacher/business social is being planned for Presque Isle, Mapleton and Washburn for early next Spring.
