HOULTON — Houlton Water Company has announced that Brian McGuire, water and waste-water superintendent, has been elected to be a director for the Maine Water Utilities Association.

McGuire is the first HWC employee to serve on the MWUA board and will be one of seven directors. In the past, McGuire has served on several important MWUA committees and in February of 2016 he was awarded the prestigious MWUA Distinguished Service award.

MWUA was established in 1925 by a group of water superintendents to share information, lend mutual support, provide educational training sessions, sponsor customer service and technical conferences, advocate for safe drinking water through education, legislation and policy. HWC has been a long-standing member for over 75 years.
