FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — Each month the staff of Fort Fairfield Elementary School recognizes students for their exemplary display of positive school citizenship using character education traits.

The school counselor, Emily Ala, visits classes monthly presenting a lesson related to the trait for the month.
For September, staff members were looking for strong examples of responsibility, which was defined as being accountable for word and deed, and having a sense of duty to fulfill tasks with reliability, dependability and commitment.
