Refers customers to Presque Isle, Houlton locations
CARIBOU — Just after Halloween the Pizza Hut in Caribou closed its doors and has told its patrons to visit their Presque Isle location if they’re in the mood for pizza.
Not much was said to the community explaining why the Caribou Pizza Hut on Bennett Drive shut down on Nov. 1. Area pizza lovers reached out on social media to find out if the rumors were true, and according to posts staff members were given short notice about the closure.
The marquee outside Pizza Hut read ‘Closed’ on Wednesday and notes were placed in the entrance apologizing for the shutdown.
When called, local and regional Pizza Hut managers said they were unable to comment and asked that all questions be directed to Pizza Hut’s corporate public relations. Calls to that office were not returned Wednesday. It does not appear that other franchises around the state were affected.
Pizza Hut operates another 28 restaurants around the state, including another Aroostook County franchise in Houlton, according to www.pizzashops.info.
“Any time you lose a business it’s never a good thing,” Caribou City Manager Austin Bleess said Wednesday. “On the flip side there are opportunities, we have been talking with various restaurants that very well might be interested in stepping into that location.”
