Birdena M. Cochran

     PERHAM — Birdena M. Cochran, 78, passed away peacefully November 2, 2016 at her Perham residence, surrounded by her loving family, following a valiant six year struggle with cancer.

     She was born in Perham, February 10, 1938, the eldest daughter of the late Lewis and Beatrice (Butterfield) McBreairty. Birdena was employed by Burrell’s in Presque Isle for many years, retiring in 2003. She was a member of the Perham Baptist Church and the Perham Friendship Club. Birdena was also very active in several organizations and received numerous commendations and awards from those groups; including, serving as President of the Caribou Singles Support Group and Leader of Washburn Chapter of TOPS.   She was a longtime member of Weight Watchers, was a top sales leader for Avon, and served as Perham ballot clerk for several years. 

     Birdena is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Theresa Cochran of Perham; and daughters, Diana Cochran Doody of Presque Isle and Tami Cochran Bancroft of Campton, N.H. She is also survived by a brother, Reginald McBreairty, of West Lafayette, Indiana; five grandchildren, Amanda Vernall, Samantha Cochran, Jacob Doody, Melissa Cochran Taylor and Hillary Hartsgrove; as well as one great-granddaughter, Leah Doody and several nieces and nephews. Birdena was predeceased by her parents, a sister, Beverly Brady, and a special granddaughter, Felicia Cochran.  

     A casual celebration of Birdena’s life was held 2-5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, at the home of her son Terry, 1144 Perham Rd., Perham.
