Chamber chooses new directors
PRESQUE ISLE — At its recent November meeting, the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors elected 10 new members. Their terms will run January 2017 to December 2019.
Elected unanimously were: Greg Doak of D&D Property Maintenance; Derek Bosse, F.A. Peabody Co.; Tammy Wortman, NorState Federal Credit Union; Mary-Kate Barbosa, University of Maine at Presque Isle; Dale Drost, Verizon Wireless Zone; Dawn Poitras, The Aroostook Medical Center; Laurie Colton, The Country Federal Credit Union in Caribou; Todd Pelletier, S.W. Collins Company; Mark Shea, Cary Medical Center; and Craig Anderson, Lowe’s.
These new members will join continuing board members: President Shawn Lahey, MMG Insurance; Vice President Shelley McAtee, North Country Auto; Treasurer Floyd Rockholt, Eagle Hill Stamp & Coin; Secretary Karen St. Peter, Key Realty; Laurie Nelson, Aroostook County Action Program; Bobbi-Jo Caron, Northern Maine Community College; Sherry Sullivan, Governor’s Restaurant and Bakery; Penny Wickstrom, Pines Health Services; and Miles Williams, Smiths’ Farm, Inc.
According to Theresa Fowler, chamber executive director, the organization has seen a lot of changes in 2016. In January, the Caribou Area Chamber of Commerce joined the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce, increasing membership and geographic coverage of what had already been the largest chamber in Aroostook County. The chamber now supports more than 20 communities in central Aroostook.
“It is important to the organization that we have representation from as many community members as possible,” Fowler said. “The nominating committee is pleased with the diversity of the 2017 Board of Directors. The board meetings are open to all of our members and the general public. We encourage members to participate on committees as much as possible and appreciate their involvement.”
