HOULTON — Local artist C. Ann Kittredge is exhibiting a collection of her work at The Cup Cafe gallery space on 61 Military St. The show opens on Saturday, Nov. 19, with a “meet and greet the artist” from 6-7 p.m.

Kittredge will introduce her show and respond to questions about the exhibit. Food, coffee drinks from the espresso bar and specialty desserts will be available for purchase during the event.

C. Ann Kittredge recently retired from teaching drawing, design and printmaking courses for the University of Maine Presque Isle.

For a number of years, she made etching prints and then developed mixed media artworks around a theme and based on the repeated imagery of the prints. The Normal School series and The Ages of Women series are composed of these mixed media works. In recent years, Ann has returned to painting in acrylic. Many of the paintings in this show examine the physical presence of various individuals.

After the intensive work on these pieces, Ann plans to resume mixed media work, in which the layering of collage, ink, paint, etching prints and other media speaks to the levels of meaning, reflecting the physical, intellectual and spiritual concerns which inspire her work.
