During the event, held in September, a local woman was honored for serving the campus and community.
The organization, made up of graduates and friends of the Presque Isle college, presents the Torchbearer Award to a member who has shown exemplary service to the group over a number of years. Tomi Henderson of Mars Hill, a drafting technology graduate from the class of 1998, was chosen unanimously by group members.
“Tomi has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty to benefit the college and our organization,” said outgoing President Mark Bouchard of Caribou. “Tomi is thoroughly connected with the community, serving in several civic capacities. She volunteers at every function of the Alumni Organization and takes part in every event.”
Also during the reception the group honored the Instructor of the Year, psychology instructor Shelli Good, with a plaque.
The Alumni and Friends annual meeting took place prior to the reception, when officers were elected to two-year terms. Tara Henderson of Presque Isle, a business administration graduate from the class of 2003, was elected president; Bouchard, an accounting graduate from the class of 1980, was elected vice president; Jodi Tash of Presque Isle, a 2011 graduate of the nursing program, was chosen treasurer; and Mary Michaud of Mapleton, a 1995 graduate of the medical administrative assistant program, was elected secretary.
