Thankful to live in this great nation

Well we weathered another election. In the 50 or so years of my total 61, I don’t think I have ever seen a more charged one as to the amount of animosity and “he said, she said” campaigns.

But, now that it is over, let’s get behind the elected president and really work to make our country what she used to be … one that people were in awe of and one that we can be proud of.
That being said, I would like to say that with Thanksgiving literally hours away, we should be thankful for all we have. Today I would like to say that I am thankful for 1) my family. I have a great wife and two sons that I am extremely proud of. My oldest lives in St. Louis, Missouri and works for Wal-Mart. He has two sons and a daughter, all great kids. My youngest lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is the center director for the Job Corps there. He has two daughters who are just terrific. 2) I am thankful for my home which is like a castle compared to where we used to live. 3) I am thankful for my church, my pastor and his family and the heritage I have in serving God. 4) I am thankful that I am a citizen of the United States of America and a veteran of Naval Service in the U.S. Navy. I have been all over the Eastern United States and Caribbean Islands. I have been all over the Mediterranean and I wouldn’t trade my country for all the others. And last but certainly not least, I am thankful for you the people who read “Remember When” and then find just the right words to say when you see me out and about. You may never know that perhaps that particular time may have been stressful for me and you lifted my spirits by your kindness.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! After the turkey is a mere skeleton and the pie is all gone, sit back in your chair and Remember When…
