    CYR, Marie Louise (Dubay), 97, Maine and Florida, at Sarasota, FL, November 19, 2016. Funeral Mass is scheduled for January 28, 2017, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Sarasota, FL 34231. Interment will be in July in the St. Bruno’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Van Buren, ME. Arrangements are under the care of Toale Brothers Funeral Homes and Crematory, Sarasota, FL.

    MAINE & FLORIDA – Marie Louise (Dubay) Cyr, 97, died November 19, 2016, in Sarasota, FL. She was born November 27, 1918, in Van Buren, ME, the fifth of 19 children and the daughter of Leon Maxime and Annie (Violette) Dubay.
    She attended local schools, graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1937 as a member of the Children of Mary; she then went to work as a telephone operator.
    She married Roland W. “Bennie” Cyr on August 24, 1942, at St. Bruno’s Catholic Church in Van Buren. Marie and Bennie lived in Ft. Bragg, NC, while Bennie was stationed there. After the war, the family lived in Van Buren briefly, then moved to Fort Fairfield in 1948. In 1971, they made another move to South Portland. After Marie retired, she and Bennie moved to Florida in 1982.
    Marie was a communicant of St. Bruno’s CC Van Buren, St. Denis CC Fort Fairfield, Holy Cross CC South Portland, St. Margaret Mary CC Winter Park, Florida and St. Thomas More CC Sarasota.
    Hallmarks of Marie’s life were of her constant faith and love of God, her generous spirit and the love and support for her children and their families. She is remembered for being encouraging and present for their many activities, performances and accomplishments. Her home was always open and welcoming to their friends for meals, homemade sweets and encouraging words.
    In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Roland W. Cyr, Sr. in 1997; one son, John Mark in 1944; one daughter, Gloria “Sam” Baertsch in 2009; seven sisters; Edna Bouchard, Gertrude Tousignant, Pauline Rouillard, Alice Dionne, Cecile Clavette, Sister Lee Ann, and Isabelle Dubay; and four brothers, Homer, Gilbert, Hector and Leon Jr.
    Marie is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Roland W. Jr. and Ruth (Wright) Cyr of Atkinson, NH, J. Kevin and Melissa (Brown) Cyr of South Portland, ME; three daughters and four sons-in-law, Paul Baertsch of Stuart, FL, Barbara N. and Brock Good of Fort Fairfield, ME, Marjorie A. and Charles Adams of Cumberland Foreside, ME, E. Katherine and Kenneth Aron of Sarasota, FL; 10 grandchildren: Kirsten Barton, Kristopher Cyr, Aaron Baertsch, Brock Good II, Beverly Cyr, Morgan Adams, Zachary Adams, Courtney Casciola and Amanda Burrow, Brandon Ricker; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Emery of FL, Guy of CT, and Robert of ME; four sisters, Artheline Girardin, Therese Smiarowski, Juliette Laraia and Jeanne Mitera, all of CT; and many nieces and nephews.
    Funeral Mass is scheduled for January 28, 2017, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2506 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, FL 34231. Interment will be in July in the St. Bruno’s Catholic Church Cemetery, Van Buren, ME. Memorial contributions (in lieu of flowers) to: National ALS Association or Maine Cancer Foundation, or charity of choice.
