    MARS HILL – Marjorie Libby Grew went home to be with her Lord after a brief illness on Thursday, November 10, 2016. She was born February 13, 1932, in Mars Hill, the daughter of Lloyd and Dorothy (Blanchard) Libby.
    She married Wendell Grew on June 29, 1954, and together they raised two children.
    After obtaining her RN degree in 1953, Marjorie started her nursing career at The Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill where she eventually became the Director of Nurses. For the rest of her nursing career, she worked at SAD #42 as a school nurse and retired after 20 years. Marjorie and her husband owned and operated E. R. Grew and sons clothing store in Mars Hill for several years.
    In addition to balancing family and work, she was an active member of the United Baptist Church in Mars Hill where she was known for her decorating skills around the holidays and sewing costumes for the children who participated in the Church Christmas programs. She worked with Pioneer girls for many years, taught Sunday school, and was involved with AWANA. She was also a tireless volunteer and loyal supporter of the Samaritans Purse boxes for Operation Christmas child. She gave countless hours to many other charitable organizations.
    Marjorie reached out to others in her community in a quiet unassuming way. Most importantly, she did these things out of kindness and not for recognition. Her compassion and love for others was a reflection of her exemplary character.
    Marjorie was predeceased by a sister, Charlotte (Libby) Colcord Reed, her husband, Robin Colcord; and a brother-in-law, Gus Currie. She was also predeceased by a very dear friend, Beryl Lawrence.
    Marjorie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wendell R. Grew. She is also survived by her sister, Marilyn (Libby) Currie. She will be greatly missed by her children, a son, Glen and his wife, Tracie; a daughter, Gayle and her husband, David Beckom, all of Mars Hill; her grandchildren, Bryan, Jessica, Rachael, Kari and Steven; as well as her great-grandchildren, Raegan, Griffin, Lilly and Kadence. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
    The family wishes to thank the staff of The Aroostook Health Center for the care they provided Marjorie during her illness.
