Shires lauded with fall sports accolades

HOULTON, Maine — The fall sports season was another wonderful success for athletes at Houlton Middle-High School as several players were lauded for their individual efforts.

Named to All Aroostook teams were: cross country, Isaiah Brown and Rylee Warman; golf, Nick Brewer, Wyatt Harvey, Drew Marino and Duncan McCormick; boys soccer, Zachary Fitzpatrick, Dylan Johnston and Jacob Worthley; and girls Kolleen Bouchard, Aspen Flewelling and Amelia Hanning.

Named to the Penobscot Valley Conference’s All Academic Team were: Chloe Davis, Emma Peterson, Mackenzie Hunt, Hannah Foley, Morgan Grant, Dylan Johnston, Jacob Worthley, Rylee Warman, Kate Newman, Victoria Holmes, Isaiah Brown and Tim Glatter.

Brown was named to the PVC Cross Country boys first team, while Warman was named to the girls second team. Jordyn Ritchie, a student from Katahdin Middle-High School who ran with Houlton was also named to the second team.

In Class C Girls Soccer, first-team all stars were: Kolleen Bouchard and Mia Hanning; second-team, Alexis Miller; and third-team, Aspen Flewelling and Tyra Gentle. Receiving honorable mention was Tessa Solomon.

Flewelling also won the Butch Shaw Award, given by soccer officials to the best player in each class.

Bouchard and Flewelling were also recently recognized by the Maine Soccer Coaches Association for making the All Northern Maine Team and have been invited to attend the Maine Soccer Coaches All-Star Banquet to be held at the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor on Dec. 4, at 1 p.m.

In Class C boys soccer, Jacob Worthley was a first-team all star, while Anthony Henderson and Dylan Johnston were second-team all stars and Nick Perfitt and Patrick Howe were third-team all stars.

In golf, Drew Marino was chosen as an all star.
