CASTLE HILL, Maine — A local family lost a garage to a fire, but escaped injury and any damage to their home, according to town fire chief Richard Wark.
Fire crews responded to the McDonald Road residence owned by Ronald Argraves after receiving the call shortly before before 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, about a fire at Argraves’ two-bay garage, which was separate from the house.
“When we arrived the building was fully involved and wind was pushing the fire towards the residence,” Wark said.
Within 20 minutes, they had the fire contained and within another hour they extinguished the blaze inside, where two vehicles were being repaired.
The garage and vehicles appear to be a total loss, although the structure was insured, Wark said.
The residents were at home but suffered no injuries. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation, Wark said.
