The Lidstone United Methodist Church invites children in pre-K to third grade to join them Saturday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon for an Advent festival.
The event will be held in the fellowship hall of the church and children will be able to make several craft items, sing carols and have a snack. There is no charge, but an RSVP to either Lisa Reed at 493-0989 or Christine Skinner at 455- 8475 would be very much appreciated so they can have enough supplies.
All are welcome to attend and ring in the holiday season.
Christmas party
The Washburn Trailrunners Snowmobile Club will hold their annual Christmas party on Thursday, Dec. 8.
There will be a potluck dinner starting at 6 p.m., followed by the business meeting and then the festivities, which will include a Yankee swap. The club hopes to have a great turnout.
Santa to visit
The Washburn Fire Department will welcome Santa to town on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m., and the public is invited.
At around 6 p.m., Santa will arrive at the fire station and be escorted around town to let all the kids know he has arrived. Look for the lights, listen for the sirens, and head over to Story Park on Main St. to give Santa your wish list and pick up an early Christmas gift. Gifts are limited, so come down early.
In the event of inclement weather, Washburn Fire will host Santa at the fire station located at 1287 Main St. The WFD hopes to see everyone there.
Family cooking class
A family cooking class for the Washburn 21st Century After School program participants and their family started on Thursday, Oct. 13. Classes were held each Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria.

Katharine Putnam from the SnapEd program taught new recipes and nutrition facts. In addition, each family who participated received a slow cooker at the last class.
