Rotary welcomes guests from center

 MARS HILL NEWS

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Nov. 22 and the guest speakers were Larry Berz and Brian Lawrence of the Francis Malcolm Science Center in Easton. They spoke of the Star Challenge fundraiser that is being used to raise funds for the center.

The Easton Elementary School has already participated in this, selling stars for $5 each. For every six, 12 or 18 stars that each student sells, they can choose a prize. The grade with the most stars sold will win a trip to the center for a planetarium show and ice cream party.
Fort Street Elementary School will be introduced to this fund raiser on Friday, Jan. 6. The center is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with weekend hours offered for special events.
The center has a new digital projections system and offers a variety of programs for different grades. Among them are planetarium, science and nature programs. For more information, contact the center at www.francismalcolmsciencecenter.com or at 488-5451.
