McIntyre to be honored

BANGOR, Maine — Victoria McIntyre of Mars Hill is among three former Husson standouts who have been selected as Husson University’s Athletes of the Year for 2015-16.

Victoria McIntyre  will be presented the Clara Swan Athlete of the Year award. She, along with men’s basketball player Trevon Butler and golfer Greg Martin, who shared the Male Athlete of the Year honor, will be recognized at the 2016 Husson Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony slated for Friday.
“These three student-athletes represent the very best of Husson University athletics,” said Husson Athletic Director Frank Pergolizzi. “All led their teams to championships. All inspired their teammates and demonstrated outstanding leadership skills throughout their career.”
McIntyre was a four-year letter winner for the Eagles as a guard from 2013-16, helping guide the team to four-straight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) postseason berths and their first regular season and tournament titles in five years last season.
McIntyre took home first team All-NAC honors for the first time in her career in 2016 and was tabbed the 2016 NAC Player of Year, while becoming the first Eagle player in program history to be named to the d3hoops.com All-Northeast Region team and selected to play in the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Game. She is the seventh Eagle player to named Player of the Year under head coach Kissy Walker.
This past season, she led the team in field goal attempts (359), three point field goals made (48), three point field goal attempts (146), free throw attempts (48), rebounds (198), and rebounding average (7.1) and ranked second in points (354), scoring average (12.6) and field goals made (124) and ranked in the top-six in the NAC in made three-point field goals (second), points per game (fourth), rebounds per game (sixth), and defensive rebounds per game (sixth).
In 106 career games, McIntyre tallied 1,077 points, 156 assists, 632 rebounds, 154 steals, and 42 blocks, while shooting 32.6 percent (351-1078) from the floor, 28.6 percent (119-416) from behind the arc and 73.0 percent (256-353) from the free throw line. She averaged 10.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game in her career.
She is ranked among the program’s career leaders in points (15th), scoring average (22nd), field goals made (23rd), field goals attempted (seventh), 3-point field goals made (sixth), 3-point field goals attempted (fifth), 3-point FG percentage (17th), free throws made (sixth), free throws attempted (10th), free throw percentage (21st), rebounds (tied for ninth), rebounding average (15th), blocked shots (13th), blocked shots average (17th), steals (17th), steals average (22nd) and games played (tied for 14th).
McIntyre is the fifth player in program history to score 1,000 or more points, grab 500 or more rebounds, record 150 or more assists and 150 or more steals in their career at Husson. She earned All-NAC second team honors in 2015 and served as a team captain her senior year.
McIntyre is pursuing a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and will graduate from Husson in 2019.
She attended Central Aroostook High School and was a standout player for the Panthers
