ON EXHIBIT — “Wildflowers” is among the paintings of local artist Caitlin Sanipass featured this month at Presque Isle’s Wintergreen Arts Center. Nature features heavily in Sanipass’ work.
A self-taught, lifelong artist, Sanipass draws influence from nature and natural landscapes, and brings her collection “Inspired by Nature” to the Presque Isle arts center.
“I enjoy landscapes and nature-inspired visions because they allow me to feel the calm and sense of comfort I get when I am out and surrounded by all the natural wonder of the outdoors,” she said. “I think being outside gives us all a refreshed, mind-clearing feeling, and I want to bring that to life in my paintings.”
Sanipass grew up in the southern Maine towns of Parsonsfield and South Hiram, where she recalls spending most of her time outside and in the woods. She currently lives in Presque Isle with her husband and daughter.
“My husband and I get to share our love [of the outdoors] with our daughter,” Sanipass said. “One of our favorite places to spend time is on the trails at the Nordic [Heritage] Center.”
As a working artist, Sanipass shares her talents with both children and adults, often serving as Wintergreen’s artist for its popular guided-painting events: Sip & Paint for adults and Pizza ‘n Paint for teens and tweens.
The public is invited to view and purchase pieces from “Inspired by Nature” at the center throughout December.
