‘The Light Is On’ invites Catholics to reconciliation

PORTLAND, Maine — During this Advent season, all Maine Catholics are invited to experience God’s love, mercy and forgiveness through “The Light Is On for You,” which represents multiple opportunities to receive the sacrament of reconciliation.

Locally, the Parish of the Precious Blood will offer four penitential services. At Holy Rosary Church in Caribou, services will be held Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 19 and 20, from 6-7 p.m. At St. Mary’s in Presque Isle, penitential gatherings will be held Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 21 and 22, from 6-7 p.m.
“During Advent, ‘The Light is On for You’ provides an opportunity for all of us, including those who have been away from the Church, to receive the gift of forgiveness by coming to Christ through reconciliation,” said Bishop Deeley. “Invite your family members and friends to come with you to experience the wonder of God’s mercy by confessing sins with honesty and humility. After making a good confession, people experience great peace. It is a sacrament of love.”
