SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS — Shelly Clark, center, vice president of operations for the Maine Real Estate and Development Association, presents Northern Maine Community College students Jordyn Doucette of Westmanland and Robert Courtemanche of Ludlow with $1,500 scholarships from MEREDA.
Courtemanche and Doucette, both senior business administration students at NMCC, are two of 14 Maine Community College students to receive a scholarship from MEREDA this year. This is the third year the association has provided the financial award.
To be considered for the scholarship, students must be Maine residents with a financial need who are enrolled as second-year students in a business, building trades, architecture, construction or engineering program at one of the state’s seven community colleges.
According to the association’s president, Paul Peck, “We are pleased to help these deserving students achieve their goals, and our members look forward to the contributions they will make to our industry.”
MEREDA raised the funds for the scholarships through its annual “Strikes for Scholars” bowl-a-thon last May. This year, enough was raised to provide scholarships for two students at each of Maine’s community colleges.
The association’s goal is to support Maine students as they prepare for careers in areas that promote their mission of responsible development and ownership of real estate across the state.
