IRISH, Amber D., 85, Sherman, Dec. 10, 2016. Services will be held at the Island Falls Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Dec. 17. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.

SHERMAN — Amber D. Irish, Augusta, wife of the late Alvin ‘Bucky’ Irish went to be with the Lord December 10, 2016. She was born Marie Amber Drew in Houlton on June 26, 1931, daughter of Charles and Marion (Shields) Drew of Dyer Brook Maine. She was a member of the United Baptist Church of Island Falls, where she taught Junior BYF and Sunday School in her earlier years. She also taught Good News Clubs and 5-Day Clubs at her home in Sherman. Her home was originally “The Welcome Inn”, a small tea room for those travelling through the area with horse and wagon. She and her husband took in many stray dogs and cats that they nursed back to health.

She was predeceased by her husband Bucky, her parents and her brother Hilton Drew. She is survived by 5 sons, Eugene and wife Debbie, Michael and wife Ruth of Sherman, Dale of Augusta, David and wife Jayne of York and Richard and wife Esta in Swansea Mass. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Eugene and wife Deborah, Becky, Sarah, Devon, Jonathon and wife Jen, Andy (AJ), Leah and husband Johnathon, Jamie and husband James, Kristina and husband Shane, Cindy and Mindy, Allen and wife Shannon, Eric and wife Megan, Shawn, Jennie, Chris and Jake, great-grandchildren Cameron, Sierra and Jacob, Noah, Bella, Roland, Sophia, Ethan, Maverick and her latest Great grandchild was born December 9, 2016. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She spent the last several years with her son, Dale. Her dearest friends were Rita , Roy, Loraine ,Ray and Greta Taylor. Many thanks for those who provided encouragement through her long illness. We pray for God’s richest blessings for these thoughtful people.
