PRESQUE ISLE — Edmund J. Michaud, 78, husband of Carol E. Michaud, passed away at a Bangor healthcare facility, following an extended illness.

He was born December 18, 1937 in Wallagrass, the son of Ludger and Jessie (Bouchard) Michaud. He attended school in Eagle Lake and was married to Carole E. Fox on August 30, 1958. Edmund was a resident of Presque Isle for many years where he worked at various jobs including, the State of Maine Highway Department, the MPG Dairy, Grant’s Dairy, the SAD # 1 School Department as a bus driver, the City of Presque Isle Highway Department, as well as the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department.
In 1972 he formed his own trucking company, E.J. Michaud and Sons, currently Michaud and Michaud Trucking. Edmund was a dedicated communicant of the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Presque Isle, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a three degree member of the Presque Isle Knights of Columbus, Council Number 2524. Edmund greatly enjoyed spending time at the Michaud and Michaud shop and also enjoyed talking to and helping people. He could always be relied upon to help those in need, never asking for anything in return. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Michaud was predeceased by one brother, Roger Michaud; one sister, Sylvia Lagasse. He is survived by his wife of fifty-eighty years, Carol E. Michaud of Presque Isle; four sons, Steve A. Michaud, Ricky C. Michaud, Todd E. Michaud and his wife Joan, all of Presque Isle, Scott G. Michaud of Caribou; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Rosa Michaud, Aurelle “Gene” and Syliva Michaud, all of Presque Isle, Allen and Mary Michaud of Mapleton; one brother-in-law, Ronald Lagasse of Presque Isle; four grandchildren and spouses, Tyler and Gretchen Michaud of Sheridan, Joshua Michaud and his fiancé Kaitlyn of Windham, Veronica Michaud of New Sweden, Vanessa and Dustin Drabeck or Oregon; two great-grandchildren, Eloise Michaud and Edmund James Michaud, both of Sheridan; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Thursday December 15, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 331 Main Street, Presque Isle, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Alex Maria Doss celebrant. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 12 Chapman Road, Presque Isle. Spring interment will take place at the Johnson Cemetery, Presque Isle.
