He replaces Brian Massey, who resigned at the end of last season after one year at the position. The 2015-16 team went 7-11 and missed out on the Class C North playoffs.
“I have a great deal of confidence in Ben’s ability to contribute to the continued and sustained growth of our entire basketball program,” said LCS/MSSM athletic director Eric McGough. “He has coaching experience at the middle level, high school level and NCAA level and in addition to his strong coaching background, Ben has a strong background in athletics administration, which has made him an exceptional organizer and leader.”
McGough said Arsenault has served as a graduate assistant for athletics at the collegiate level, as well as both an assistant athletics director and athletics director at the primary and secondary levels.
McGough said that with his experience coaching at the younger levels, Arsenault has developed targeted coaching plans and intervention strategies to build a strong foundational knowledge and skill set for younger players.
He added that coaching at the collegiate level gives Arsenault “a very unique insight for a varsity coach, in that he knows what it takes to develop into a successful student-athlete at the next level, and can incorporate that for our more experienced student-athletes.”
