8th-grade boys win 3 more

The Caribou Middle School boys basketball team is now 7-1 after recent victories over Caribou, Central Aroostook and Fort Kent.

In a 51-36 win over Caribou, the Vikes trailed by three points at halftime before making a big comeback. Brevin Barnes and Sawyer Deprey were the double-digit scorers for Caribou with 10 points each. Carter Quist, Cody Waldermarson, Riley Bouchard and Matt Smith also contributed heavily to the victory.

Caribou’s defensive pressure was too much for Central Aroostook in a 64-35 triumph. Ethan Holdsworth fired in 19 points and Cory Herbert and Miles Collier added nine each. Zack Madore and Caleb Espling hauled in some key rebounds and Jordan Duplissie had several nice assists.

In topping Fort Kent, 65-37, Holdsworth netted 21 points and Riley Bouchard and Sawyer Deprey added 10 and seven, respectively. Espling and Duplissie had strong games rebounding.

Basketball season tickets

Season tickets are still available for Caribou High School regular season basketball games. The cost is $40 for adults and $20 for students. Call the athletic office at 493-4274 for more information.

     Preseason tourney results

Washburn District High School hosted a preseason basketball tournament Dec. 5 and 6. On the first night, Central Aroostook defeated Washburn, 47-41, and Easton nipped Ashland, 39-36. On the second night, Central Aroostook stopped Easton, 52-39, while Washburn got past Ashland, 38-30.

Players named to the all-star team were Kassie Farley and Maggie Castonguay, both of Washburn; Sara Gilman and Elise Allen, both of Easton; Caitlyn Harris and Breanne Bradbury, both of Central Aroostook; and Morgan Doughty of Ashland.
