WASHBURN NEWS

By Amy Sawyer

The Washburn Fire Department had the great pleasure of escorting Santa and Mrs. Claus around town on Saturday, Dec. 10.

Due to the cold weather, Santa met with children at the Washburn Civic Center. Once children made their requests to Santa, they received a goodie bag and had the chance to explore the Washburn Fire Department.
Washburn Boy Scout Troop 177 assisted the firefighters in handing out hot chocolate donated by Tim Hortons. This community event had a large turnout.

Trees benefit Scouts

Washburn Boy Scout Troop 177 is selling Christmas trees again this year from Sun Rise Tree Farms. These are premium trees and range from 6-8 feet. Trees are $28. They are located at Washburn Trailside or can be delivered on weekends.
There are also tree stands available for sale. Your support is appreciated as Troop 177 is traveling to West Virginia this summer for two weeks.

Box Tops for Education

The Washburn District Elementary School continually collects Box Tops for Education. The process is simple: just send in clipped box tops found on hundreds of products to the school. Money earned goes towards resources like books, headphones, and other supplies for students. This is a great way to help support the school.
Any Box Tops sent are greatly appreciated.

Winter clothing

As winter arrives, schools find that they could always use extra winter clothing for those in need. Washburn District Elementary School welcomes any donations you might be able to provide.
