River Café: open 7-7 on Friday, Dec. 23; closed Saturday and Sunday.
Maine Slice: open Thursday and Friday, 4-8 or later, and closed Saturday and Sunday.
Birch Point: open Thursday and Friday, 5-9.
Christmas services
Special Christmas Eve services in area churches will be held at Whittier Congregational Church at 4 p.m., the United Baptist Church at 6 p.m. and St. Agnes Catholic Church at 7 p.m.
None of these churches will hold Christmas Day services.
Town gathering
The annual get-together for town employees and committee members was held at the Municipal Building in Island Falls on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
This was a chance for those who serve during the year on boards and committees, as well as Fire Department and ambulance employees, to socialize and meet.
An excellent meal was offered and served to 30-plus people.
