The Smyrna Merrill Historical Society (SMHS) was the meeting place for the Purple Hat ladies for their Christmas party on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The dining table was decorated with a Christmas theme.
The Purple Hat ladies brought food and supplies for the animal shelter wrapped in newspaper to play their Christmas swap game. After number 1 chose her gift and unwrapped it, everyone took their turn and it was a fun time ending with lots of goodies for the shelter.
Betty Wyman was the only person celebrating a birthday in December so all sang “Happy Birthday” to her. Marie Gillotti explained several new activities to try out next year. Marsha Reed and Ramona White were the winners of the Star Puzzle game. The meeting place for next month was discussed.
After all the business was conducted, Wannetta Townsend asked the blessing on the meal and members enjoyed a delicious and bountiful meal.
The group made several suggestions for New Year’s resolutions.
Everyone chose a gift bag from the front of the fireplace; each bag held a handmade scarf of different designs and colors. A special thank you from all PH Ladies.
Attending were: Sandra Holmes, Wannetta Townsend, Marie Gillotti, Cindy Gray, Delores Locke, Verna Boone, Mildred Gagnon, Berniece Campbell, Arlene Friel, Sandy Wyman, Ramona White, Betty Wyman, Jackie Colella, Marsha Reed, and Charlotte Marley.
