LOCKHART, Joseph G. E., 75, Easton, December 14, 2016. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the Easton United Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home.
EASTON – Joseph G. E. Lockhart, 75, passed away unexpectedly December 14, 2016, to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on September 7, 1941, in River de Chute, NB, Canada, the son of Clifford and Margaret (Browning) Lockhart.
Joe attended grade school at a one room school house in Knoxford and graduated high school from Centreville High. He graduated from New Brunswick Forest Ranger School and worked as a surveyor for the government of New Brunswick. He married the love of his life, Pauletta (Clark) Lockhart, on November 14, 1964.
He was a member of the United Baptist Church of Easton. He worked for Fraser Paper in a fire watch tower at a quiet place in the woods called Summit Depot. Joe enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. He worked in the stockroom at Maine Public Service Co. and sold wood stoves on the side during the energy crunch. Joe worked for his father-in-law, Walter Clark on the potato farm often, and eventually took over the farm with his brother-in-law, Harold Clark, for a couple of years before going into business as an arborist and spraying insulation known as H and J insulators. He worked in the knife room at JM Huber for a year and then opened an antique/second hand shop for a number of years. Joe sold and hauled handmade cedar twig furniture all over the New England states and bought and sold antiques throughout the United States. He became a Gideon in 1990 and really enjoyed spreading and sharing the word.
Joe will be remembered for being a hardworking and kind man who really did put his family first.
He is survived by his wife, Polly of Easton; his children: Walt and his wife, Nikki of Easton, and Kimberly Woodworth and her husband, Chris of Mapleton; two brothers and their wives, Richard and Beatrice Lockhart of Perth, NB, Dan and Joan Lockhart of Woodstock, NB; three sisters and their husbands: Alice “Allie” and Dennis Dineen of Huntingdon, Quebec, Carol and Ray Anderson of Bairdsville, NB, and Lee Longstaff of Bairdsville, NB; six grandchildren: Logan and Seth Lockhart, Tristen and Liam Woodworth, Ian and Miranda McLean; one great-grandson, Linux Lockhart; and many wonderful nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother-in-law, Stephen Longstaff.
Friends and family called 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the Easton United Baptist Church where funeral services were held at 3 p.m., with Pastor Greg Jackson officiating.
