HOULTON — Norma Jeanne Stacey-Scott, age 89, died December 14, 2016. She was born August 20, 1927 in Houlton, the daughter of Lisle and Rena (Hannigan) Hallett.

Following nursing training at Mercy Hospital School, Norma Jeanne Hallett entered the US Army Nurse Corp and served at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX until 1949. Following her marriage in 1948 to Lt. James Stacey, Norma raised nine children, continued her nursing career, dedicated herself to her children’s curricular, extra-curricular and sports activities, actively participated in varied roles in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU), and multiple organizations within the Catholic Church. While following her husband to eleven duty assignments over twenty-five years, Norma actively supported military family organizations. After returning to Houlton she married her high school sweetheart, Arnold Scott, in 1986. Throughout her nursing career, Norma served as a private hospital nurse, a director of nursing, and a local and regional agricultural safety and health nurse. Her greatest loves were her family and her service to the Church.

Norma is preceded in death by her first husband, Retired Ltc. James Stacey, her daughter, Jeanne Stacey and her oldest son, James Stacey. She is also preceded by her second husband, Arnold Scott, of Hodgdon.

Norma leaves behind a sister Susan Hallett of Higganam, CT; three sons Royal Stacey of Maryland, John Stacey and Mark Stacey of California, four daughters Marsha Carmichael, Catherine Shrode and Rebecca Spearman of Texas, and Mary Michels of Georgia, fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two step-sons, Carl Scott and Michael Scott and their families.

Services will be at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church in the spring. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
