The Caribou boys’ eighth-grade basketball team split a pair of games last week, topping Presque Isle last Wednesday and falling to Houlton Friday.
In the 55-41 win over PI, Caribou’s full press was the difference as the Vikes outscored the Wildcats 25-15 in the fourth quarter to nail the win.
Sawyer Deprey’s 17 points led the way for Caribou, while Ethan Holdsworth had 11 and Riley Bouchard 10. Jordan Duplissie and Miles Collier each played well in a reserve role.
Houlton moved past Caribou, 60-48, two days later. The Shires hit seven three-pointers and outscored the Vikes from the foul line, 25-5, to come out on top. Matt Smith had a big offensive night with 15 points to lead Caribou, while Carter Quist and Holdsworth each added eight points.
