PT Elwood TiddTIDD, Elwood A., 77, Dec. 26, 2016. Services will be held on Fri., Dec. 30, from 9-11 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.

It is with great sadness the family of Elwood A. Tidd announces that he passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on December 26, 2016. Elwood, son of Allie and Jean (Brewer) Tidd, was born March 8, 1939, in Cary.

Elwood was a jack-of-all-trades and was known to lend a hand to anyone in need. After high school, he started working with the Gallop boys at Houlton Truck then on to Cole’s Express as a delivery driver. He had many impressive accomplishments including his 20 years of skilled carpentry work, designing and building his family home in 1967, opening a Sno-Jet dealership in 1972, and building Tidd’s Sport Shop in 1978. He was also instrumental in the building of the Hodgdon Fire Station and Veterans Memorial in 1993.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie (Dinah) Tidd; children, Rick (Sandy), Jackie (Jim), Annette (Bobby), and Debby (John); seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, his brother, Francis; and sister Arlene. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers; Phillip, Bob, and Glen; and his sister, Geraldine. Elwood was a loving, hardworking man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016, from 9-11 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will directly follow at 11 a.m. with Father Dave Raymond officiating.
