HOULTON — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to 135 calls for service during the week of Dec. 19-Dec. 25.

 

Monday, December 19

Tr. Stoutamyer met with an elderly male subject from Chapman who fell victim to a popular scam where male received a phone call from someone pretending to by his nephew and needed bail money of $3,000 to get out of jail.

The elderly male was directed to buy Wal-Mart gift cards and then the suspect had the victim give him the code numbers to the cards over the phone. During this time the actual nephew arrived and the elderly male realized the scam. Tr. Stoutamyer made a call to Wal-Mart and discovered that if the victim came to the store before code numbers were called in by the suspect, he could get his money back. The elderly male and his nephew, along with Tr. Stoutamyer, were able to go to the local Wal-Mart and have the $3,000 returned.

– Tr. Pescitelli received a report of a gas drive off in Mars Hill that totaled over $100. Tr. Pescitelli located a vehicle that matched the description of the vehicle that didn’t pay for gas but it was the wrong vehicle. The 21-year-old operator, however, was operating on a suspended driver’s license. The operator was given a summons.

– Tr. Desrosier assisted Maine Adult Probation with transporting a 24-year-old Fort Kent male that was a suspect in a robbery that occurred in Bangor. A detective from Bangor PD interviewed the suspect and Tr. Desrosier arrested and transported the man to jail.

– Tr. Desrosier received a complaint from an Emera Maine representative reporting that a man in Allagash threatened their employee by saying that if they came back to turn off his power there would be a .270 waiting for them. Tr. Desrosier and Sgt. Clark spoke with the man who denied saying anything like that. Tr. Desrosier summoned the man for terrorizing.

 

Friday, December 23

– Tr. Desrosier stopped to assist a motorist on Rt. 161 in Fort Kent. The operator was operating on a suspended license. Tr. Desrosier summoned that man for operating after suspension and had a licensed operator come get the vehicle.
