PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Riverside Restaurant was the city’s latest victim of vandalism, suffering two broken windows and two doors in the early morning hours of Friday Jan. 6.
Presque Isle police are investigating the incident, in which two windows and two doors were smashed, though have not made any arrests.
The vandals do not appear to have entered the building or stolen anything, according to police and restaurant operators.
The Riverside Restaurant was virtually unfazed by the damage, opening as usual at 5 a.m. as the windows were covered up and in the midst of repair, said Sandy Collins, owner of the longtime Presque Isle eatery.
“I didn’t lose anybody. I had all my regulars,” Collins said. “Portland Glass was here ASAP,” she added.
This is the first vandalism incident of the new year in Presque Isle, following several high-profile and high-cost vandalism cases last year, including at Mantle Lake Park and the vacant Crow’s Nest restaurant building.
