SAVOY, Avis E., 82, Dunedin, FL, Dec. 18, 2016.
DUNEDIN — Avis E. (Wright) Savoy passed peacefully on Dec. 18, 2016 in Dunedin, Florida. She was born in Houlton, Maine in 1934, the youngest child of Florence “Flossie” and Frederick Sanford of Smyrna Mills.
She graduated from Ricker Classical Institute. As a young woman she played organ at the Smyrna-Ludlow Baptist Church. She enjoyed softball, reading, baking, sewing, swimming, bicycling, and a good cup of tea with a cookie. She worked as a secretary in several professional offices and held positions at Sear’s, Sampson’s Supermarket, and Key Bank in Houlton. She loved the sunny days and blue skies of Florida, where she lived the last three decades of her life.
Avis raised three children with her first husband, Clair R. Wright. She leaves two daughters, Brenda Wright of Houlton and Sue Wright and her husband Timothy Carr of Brunswick. She was predeceased by her son and youngest child, Gregory Wright. She also leaves behind a grandson, Jonathan Wright and his wife, Theresa, of Aberdeen, Washington, a grandaughter, Cassie Baugh, her husband Eric and their children, Lauren and Owen Baugh of Edmond, Oklahoma, and a grandson Dustin Estabrook of Hodgdon. She was predeceased by her second husband, Morris Savoy as well as by her companion of 16 years, Clarence Smith. She also leaves two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
A family burial will take place in the spring.
