EASTON – Marjorie E. Corey, 88, wife of the late Winston A. Corey, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, January 4, 2017, at a Caribou nursing facility. She was born November 29, 1928, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Bertram and Mary (Jones) Wright and was a graduate of the Easton High School, Class of 1947.
Marjorie was married to Winston A. Corey on June 24, 1949, and had been employed by the Aroostook Valley Railroad in the late 1940’s, Sears Roebuck in Presque Isle, and also at the Easton School Cafeteria. She also performed seasonal farm work as well as being a dedicated homemaker and mother to her three children.
Marjorie was a member of the former Easton Methodist Church, a member of the Easton Alumni Association, a charter member of the Easton American Legion Pattee-Page Post Number 187 Auxiliary, and the Easton Happy Days Senior’s Club.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her husband, Winston on June 1, 1997; one sister, Viola Bradbury. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Keith W. and Kathy A. Corey of Washburn; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara A. and Larry G. Barnes of Cleves, OH, Jill L. and Fred C. Barnes of Easton; one half-brother, Ira Wright of Crouseville; two half-sisters, Linda Ireland and Irene Orr, both of Chester; one brother-in-law, Henry Bradbury of Florida; four grandchildren, Tammy Barnes Gates of Ohio, Kent Corey of Brewer, Kyle Corey of Old Town, and Amy Barnes of Massachusetts; six great-grandchildren, Clara, Elayna, Noah, Addison, Charlotte and Collin; several nieces and nephews.
Friends called Friday, January 6, 2017, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. The funeral service was conducted Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Sue Brown officiating. Interment will take place at Estes Park Cemetery, Easton, later in the spring. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments was held after the service at the VFW Paul Lockhart Post Number 6187, Presque Isle St., Fort Fairfield.
