FORT KENT, Maine — Wildcat senior Nick Bartlett pulled off a pair of individual wins Saturday, Jan. 7, in both the morning and afternoon giant slalom races held in near zero temperatures at Lonesome Pine Trails.
Bartlett earned the top spot in the morning run with a time of 1:41.47. Central Aroostook’s Lane Grass skied to a second-place finish with a time of 1:41.68, and Fort Kent’s Jon Haley placed third.
Presque Isle’s John Saucier and Fort Kent’s Drew Madore tied for fourth, each posting a morning run time of 1:43.77.
In the afternoon, Bartlett again posted the fastest time (1:46.46) to take first place. Fort Kent’s Bryce Madore came through in the afternoon and skied a 1:47.85 to take the second spot. Grass came in third.
In team results, Fort Kent took the top position, with Presque Isle second and Central Aroostook third, in both the morning and afternoon races.
For the girls, Warrior Alisha Guimond posted the day’s fastest time at 1:46.88. Teammates Riley Sibley skied to second place in the morning with a time of 1:50.93, followed by Olivia Martin.
Fort Kent skiers took five of the next seven spots in the morning, with Presque Isle’s Eleanor St. Peter finishing eighth and Caribou’s Hope Shea ninth.
Guimond, Martin and Sibley finished one, two, three in the afternoon’s giant slalom run. St. Peter and Shea once again finished in the top 10.
Fort Kent earned the top overall team spot in both the morning and afternoon runs, with Caribou in second.
