AUGUSTA — Sen. Mike Carpenter, D-Houlton, would like to remind local teachers, parents and students about the Senate honorary page program at the State House in Augusta.
The daylong program gives students a unique opportunity to observe and participate in the state’s legislative process. Students from third grade through high school are encouraged to participate.
“Being an honorary page can be a great experience for our young people,” said Sen. Carpenter.
Honorary pages help deliver messages, distribute documents within the Senate Chamber, interact with the senators and take part in an interactive learning experience.
The Legislature began Jan. 4 and is expected to run through June 2017. Honorary pages are needed throughout the session, so scheduling is flexible.
